Deputy President William Ruto held a secret meeting with Taita Taveta county leaders in his newly acquired ranch in Mata. The ranch borders that of Kirinyaga governor Anne Wainguru.
At the centre of discussion was the looming Jubilee party polls. Those present pushed to have the party give one post to the county or coast region.
Ruto told those present, party elections set for March will strengthen the party in preparation for the 2022 elections.
Among those present were Taveta MP Naomi Shaban and woman representative Lydia Haika.Ruto hosted more than 200 delegates who pledged to support his presidential bid 2022.
Not left behind was former woman representative Joyce Lay and a number of aspirants who ran for various seats under the party during the last general election. Lay is eyeing a top women post during the polls.
Haika said the ruling party is gaining popularity at the Coast and will soon overthrow the opposition.
Weekly Citizen has information,those present agreed, the party to hold a number of meetings with various groups from the region to market Ruo in the opposition prone coast region.
Ruto has managed to bring on his side MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) Mohammed Ali (Nyali), Paul Katana (Kaloleni), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango), Badi Twalib (Jomvu), Ali Wario (Garsen), Kassim Tandaza (Matuga), Khatib Mwashetani (Lunga Lunga), Christine Zawadi (Nominated) and Athman Shariff (Lamu East).
MPs Jones Mlolwa (Voi) Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi), Haika and Ms Shaban are Ruto faces in Taita county.
Governor Granton Samboja has fallen out with Ruto and is backing the handshake of Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Jubilee youth leaders led by Hezron Mwachofi were present at the secret talks where those present were asked to switch off mobile phones.
