Joshua Chisanga is back to the Kenya Simbas squad for the last game of the Victoria Cup after missing the earlier part of the competition.
Chisanga returns at flank alongside Homeboyz’s Emmanuel Mavala for the game to be held in Nakuru on Saturday.
KCB’s Samuel Asati is ruled out with an injury while indiscipline has led to the braking of training protocols and as a result a number of the familiar faces have been dropped according to team manager Jimmy Mnene.
Head Coach Paul Odera said: “It is always a special time for players, their clubs and families to earn a call up to the Simbas. There are those who have worked hard, but not made the team and they need to maintain their work ethic and focus.”
“We had hoped to continue to build momentum by maintaining consistency in selection. However, a concussion injury to Asati means the man of the match from the Zambia match is not available.”
Ian Njenga and Melvin Thairu are the day’s props while scrum half Samson Onsomu being the captain. Elkeans Musonye and Malcolm Onsando are named as the co-captains.
“We started a bit slow away and we found ourselves chasing the game. If we correct that we will be okay,” said Onsomu.
USIU’s Charles Kuka starts at fly half as Stanbic 7s top scorer Vincent Onyala starts at centre.
Elisha Koronya of Quins, Ian Masheti of Impala, Samuel Were of Oilers, Kabras duo of Barry Robinson and Brian Juma, Mwamba’s Tony Omondi and KCB’s Michael Kimwele make the bench.
