A middle-aged man has been presented in court on charges of assaulting his son leading to body harm contrary to Section 250 as read with Section 251 of the Penal Code.
On October 13, 2019 the accused, Salim Mwaluma Chongo, was arraigned at Voi Law Courts before Senior Resident Magistrate Fredrick Nyakundi.
The particulars of the charge are that the 23 year old man bit the 4 month old toddler on the penis, right leg and rib. The incident occurred at the accused own homestead located at Mwingoni village in Voi, Taita Taventa county.
The mother of the child was away when the incident reportedly happened. She had left the child under the care of his father, the accused.
The court was informed that the baby is currently undergoing treatment having sustained grievous injuries on its genitals.
The accused was released on a cash bail of Ksh. 20,000 or an alternative Ksh. 50,000 bond.
The matter is scheduled for a mention on October 30, 2019 with the hearing set for October 31, 2019.
