– Eugene Mbugua is the youngest millionaire in Kenya who owns a production company and several bars
– He is the brains behind popular shows such as Being Bahati, Young Rich, Story Yangu and other shows
– Mbugua was listed by Forbes in the top 30 under 30 promising entrepreneurs in 2017
His first show to be aired was titled Young and Rich and coincidentally, those are the two words which adequately describe Eugene Mbugua, Kenya’s youngest millionaire.
The 29-year-old is the epitome of hard work, dedication and self-confidence; but behind his resounding success lies a story of gruesome struggles.
Speaking to TUKO TV’s Lynne Ngugi, Mbugua said he always had an eye for business.
His first business was back in 2009 as a campus student who would work during the day and attend classes from 5 pm.
He did odd jobs such as teaching at Makini school; where they were being paid after three months and so, he could walk from Roysambu to Makini school due to lack of bus fare.
That was a blessing in disguise because as he was walking to school, he could see ravish apartments, cars and lifestyles in Eastlands.
He found out the owners of the posh apartments were young people who had made it in life.
And that realization was the genesis of his popular show Young and Rich. It took a while before his pitch was accepted by Kenyan media houses but his big break came from that show.
At 29 and several shows later, Eugene boasts of a production company which has over 40 employees.
Besides producing shows, Eugene owns a chain of clubs with a group of friends.
The millionaire reiterated the importance of friends saying he began his first business with financial support from friends.
It has not been all rosy for Eugene, who said he struggled with depression in 2014.
He also said he grew up in poverty.
Despite the struggles, Eugene has come a long away and found himself listed in the Forbes list of top 30 under 30 promising entrepreneurs.
Advising upcoming entrepreneurs, Mbugua said the most important thing was to find one’s path and craft success out of it.
