– Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently under immense pressure to deliver after a poor start into the new season
– Man United have won just two matches, recording a series of poor results that have them sitting eighth with eight points
– Man City and Liverpool are leading the charts with 13 and 18 points respectively
Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, contends the club does not stand any chance of competing with Liverpool or Man City.
United have bagged just two wins from six matches into the new season, leaving them occupying eighth place on the standings.
The side suffered a 2-0 shock defeat to West Ham at London Stadium on Sunday, September 22, and are now trailing league pacesetters, Liverpool, by a staggering 10 points.
The Reds are yet to lose any match this season, winning all their six fixtures including a 2-1 league victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Man City, on the other hand are second on the log with 13 points, two ahead of third-placed Leicester City.
Mourinho now believes his former side lack the ability to challenge the two clubs who are currently the front-runners for the title.
“From the outside, I think they will finish between fourth and sixth. That is my point of view and I don’t think they are a team capable of fighting for the top two, of course,” Mourinho was quoted saying.
“I think it would be a good achievement for them to finish top four and make it back to the Champions League,” he added.
The Red Devils will now be looking to make amends when they host Arsenal at Old Trafford in their next league match.
