A Spanish athlete recently showed immense admiration for arguably the greatest marathoner of all time, Eliud Kipchoge, after she boldly professed her love for him.
The 34-year-old, who currently holds the world 42 kilometre record of two hours, 1.39 minutes set in the Berlin Marathon last year, is currently gearing up for a marathon which he aims to run in under two hours in what has been dubbed the Ineos 1:59 challenge.
Because of his upcoming marathon, Kipchoge has been busy training in his native Elgeyo Marakwet county.
His upcoming record-beating attempt has attracted a number of local and international tourists who grasped at the chance of seeing the marathoner in action.
TUKO.co.ke has learnt that 20 athletes from Spain recently joined Kipchoge in training to learn the ways of the champion.
For one athlete, however, her admiration for the Kenyan marathoner runs so deep she actually declared she is in love with him.
Paulah Cobo , a long-distance athlete from Spain, spoke to media where she made an interesting confession as she wished Kipchoge all the best in his quest to conquer the Ineos 1:59 challenge.
“I’m in love with him. I wish him all the luck in the world, really. I would love him to beat the record,” she said between bouts of blushing.
The tourists collided with Kipchoge at Global Sports Communications as he undertook some speed sessions and there was excitement all over at the sight of the 34-year-old.
The Ineos 1:59 challenge is set to take place in Vienna, Austria and following an interaction with other foreign athletes , Kipchoge is almost guaranteed of having millions of eyes cheering him on during the race.
Needless to say, the foreign athletes were left very impressed by Kenyan athletes training regimes.
