Ann Mumbi Waiguru the Kirinyaga County governor on
Thursday 17 October celebrated the flop of Punguza Mizingo campaign with a
scathing attack on the Third Way Alliance
party leader Ekuru Aukot the Punguza
Waiguru from the word go was not in support of the Punguza Mizigo bill even if Aukot has been trying so hard to introduce a campaign for bill which flopped on Wednesday 16 October.
Waiguru further emphasized Aukot did not consider Kenyans’ needs when he was coming up with the bill which eyed to reduce the elected and nominated government posts.
Waiguru referred to the Punguza Mizigo founder as an arrogant lone ranger who refused to read Kenyans moods and was too proud to listen to other people’s views.
Before the bill flopped, Waiguru and Aukot engaged in a public spat on social media after Waigugu termed Punguza Mizigo bill as an unfortunate embarrassment.
Part of Waiguru’s post that brought the social media at a standstill after the two leaders exchanged words reads, “Fortunately for Kenya, we run on the basis of law, not on Aukot directives. The Bill was thrown out on the basis of the Law and Standing Orders of the Kirinyaga County Assembly. Period. Even on its merits, this Bill is, in any event, an unfortunate embarrassment.”
Aukot did not let it go but later retaliated calling Waiguru a public thief in reference to the funds which disappeared when she was the Devolution Cabinet Secretary.
added, “A public thief cannot tell Kenyans about integrity. Even the recent
audited reports from the Office of the Auditor-General speak for themselves.”
